I am a Nutrition and Lifestyle Therapist, based in South Manchester.
I believe that food is more than just fuel; it is information that our bodies use to nourish and support our good health, or it can drive and maintain symptoms of disease. Often, we may instinctively know that our diets are partly responsible for our poor health, but we are bombarded by conflicting opinions on ‘healthy diets’ or overwhelmed by the number of positive changes we could make in order to improve our health.
No one ‘diet’ will ever work for all of us: we are all biochemically individual, with different physical, mental and emotional health concerns and unique life experiences. By our very nature, we all require different information and nutrition from our diets in order to feel well and function optimally. This is where Functional Medicine can help..
Put simply, I work with food and lifestyle as forms of 'medicine' to support health and wellbeing. What we eat and how we live can directly influence our health and, in working with me, we will identify how your health may be being undermined by your current diet. It sounds so simple but I remain in awe of the body's ability to respond positively when we feed it what it needs! When addressing your health issues, my approach is to consider your 'whole person' - not just your symptoms. We will consider all aspects of your life and use a Functional Medicine approach to seek out and address the underlying 'root' causes of your ill health.
Prior to our first consultation, you'll be asked to complete a comprehensive health assessment, which will enable me to identify any specific clinical or nutritional imbalances that are indicated as needing support.
We will then meet, and during our initial 90 minute personal consultation, we will explore your individual life & medical history, your particular signs & symptoms of ill-health, and your current diet and lifestyle patterns, to gain a better understanding of the cause and development of your health issues.
This process will enable us to work in partnership to assess, address and take charge of your health issues using targeted functional foods, specific food plans, therapeutic supplements and/or supportive lifestyle practices, which will be delivered to you in the form of a Functional Nutrition & Lifestyle Plan: individually tailored to your specific needs, but which is based on solid evidence-based research. We will then continue to have regular 'follow-up' consultations where we discuss your responses to the plan.
Wonder Nutrition will help you to discover and implement those food and lifestyle practices that are right for YOU at this particular point in time, and will support you in your quest for your optimal health.
